For those of us without Twitter I see just a blank - which in reality is about all we know at this stage.

I don't have twitter, but if I dwell a pause of two marching paces it then pops up on my screen. I saw a report on this variant last night, and it was only right at the end of the report that it was admitted that they don't know anything like enough about this variant to know if it will be a problem or not 🙄

I think the reason it's raising alarm bells is that there are many divergent mutations in this strain such that its spike protein is more significantly different from the index than other mutations.
I don't think there is dependable info yet on its transmissability, pathogenicity or immune evasion.
(Can't see the tweet, either)

I can see a pretty diagram of the spread of this nasty .. and the following : "There is understandable concern about the genomic evolution of SARSCoV2, and just the term 'mutation' can feel scary. Partly to alleviate such fears and more generally to provide an overview of the current situation, we wrote a review." 1/ sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1879625721000730?via%3DihubAnd I don't do Twitter .. but my Android tablet will show the Tweets someone else posts.

Is Gracias a new African country, a physical condition or a district of Zululand?

Please be correct and say "Southern Africa". Gracias It would be correct to say the Republic of South Africa, which refers to the country; "Southern Africa" is not a country. De nada.

The "problem" is security settings. I use the highest level and this blocks access to my location for all sites. Twitter insists that it tracks your location and hence refuses to allow me to read anything they publish. Not something I am desperately sad about except for those who perhaps did not realise that they are being tracked.

Isn’t anyone with a mobile phone being tracked constantly by many methods possible, one that you can’t disable is IMEI tracking……

Twitter doesn't ask me for my location and I can still read what's published.

I assume it takes it from your browser if you haven't got a blocker - there are 8 trackers on this thread two of those come from the tweet that has been posted above.

Twitter doesn't ask me for my location and I can still read what's published. It doesn't need to ask you. It knows because you haven't blocked it. If you dig deep into the T&Cs for Twitter you will find that by using their system (registered or not) you agree to being tracked. And yes the mobile phone tracks you too. It has to to route calls. I don't have a mobile - nothing about avoiding tracking - rather simply no signal at home and many areas I visit. There is I think a difference however between tracking in order to make the hardware work (phones) and tracking - just because we can and then we can use or sell that data as we feel fit.
