Looks like our plans to go to the UK to see family are seriously threatened.... It just semms that you now have to go back to having a PCR test rather than a lateral flow - or have I missed something? We've just been back so not going back from Christmas.

I thought it was going to be another 3 days before they detected if the new variant was in UK. However, 2 cases already detected www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59445388Surely the 2 day PCR test will only apply to recent arrivals from any of the red list?

Unfortunately too many people have been acting as if the pandemic were over, this proves that it's far from it. Everybody seems focussed on numbers of cases but there is a more critical metric, resilience, and in that league table at the end of October the UK ranked a lowly 25th out of 53 down 9 places from the previous month. Out of the EU countries only Poland (33rd) and Romania (49th) rank lower. Gratifyingly Spain comes 2nd to Ireland whilst France is 7th. www.bloomberg.com/graphics/covid-resilience-ranking/

Our (Valencia Community) proposed Passaporte Covid for bars and restaurants, etc.. is too late with the cold temperatures driving everyone interior...

Agree very much with thread title…..awaiting clarification on the U.K. gov website but if this (from the Guardian) is to be believed… “Johnson said anyone arriving in the UK will be asked to take a PCR test for Covid-19 on the second day and must self-isolate until they provide a negative test.” It’s very much a as far as a quick visit to the U.K. is concerned in the near future…

Boris actually said ‘when they arrive in the country’ which is a bit different as it saves two days. Telegraph says ‘by day two’ Guardian says ‘on day two’. Who bloody knows?
We await the French measures for getting back to or into France.

"will be asked" is very different to "will be obliged", which is how it should be. The training of dogs to detect Covid carriers is sufficiently advanced to enable dogs in each arrivals hall/terminal.

What do the poor people do who do not have this virus but there is one, 2, 10 on the plane who do??? They have to quarantine because only the dogs are detecting it at ARRIVALS... LOL
If these people; no matter the reason want to travel then they should fork out for a pcr test. Period... Don't bitch. You get to go to see family or whatever..

Our lovely son who flew out to see his ill father and support me will be caught up in the new rules it seems; not a good introduction to the new bosses who have just taken over the company he works for, who have called a big meeting on Thursday.

I'm surprised you have to wear a mask in a shop but not in a pub or a club. Pubs and clubs will be super spreaders. Maybe the public would not accept it.

There may ne confusion about the 2 day test, which as I discovered can be taken from day 0 to day 2 of your arrival- having been equally misinformed and thinking the test had to be on day 2.
Currently the Scottish site has no changes and a lateral flow test (already paid for) is acceptable but the weekend is a long period of time for changes to be made.
Severely unclear what happens if you transit via an English airport - English or Scottish rules apply??

Kinda defeats the purpose..
