On the last two packs of glucose tablets I was charged VAT and import duty. Costly! Has anyone got an outlet I can source these tablets? Thanks all.

I bought these for my wife from French Amazon. They are delivered from Germany, apart from postage to pay there was no extra duty or TVA added. link

Are they not something prescribed by the M.T. or diabetic specialist and available from every pharmacie or am I missing something?
I thought diabète was an ALD so it can't be a question of price.

It is ALD but doesn't mean you can get everything. Glucose tablets included. My specialist tells me to drink a carton of grape juice, or take 3 large sugar cubes ~ both yuk. I've bought from the pharmacy a box of glucose syrup, about 6€ for 5, again yuk. 15g sachets of harbour sweets, the jelly ones are better, as are full sugar fizzy drinks. For my handbag the sweets are my choice. Good luck

Would dried figs be suitable for carrying with you or are they too slow release?
I adore them and there are so many subtle differences in taste & texture between those from various countries.

Any dried fruit is good as they're low in fat so work quite quickly, that's why I use the haribos, they're low in fat but high in sugar.

Thank you Flober. I will checkout that site. Certainly cheaper than our local pharmacy. I will also speak to our medicin traitent.

Well I received my dextrose tablets from a German company. Two weeks, so not bad.
