Yes, the smell and the anticipation when the Italians made me coffee was memorable.
One of my customers supplied big showy noisy steamy chrome coffee machines to cafés & restaurants (he was called "The Coffee Man"!) and he told me something which stuck "proper coffee is theatre!". Something both Macdos and pod machines lack.
I no longer stop at MAcdos for coffee since the lazy surly employee refused to serve me saying I had to use the borne, but before then I really appreciated the unpretensciousness, you just asked for a coffee and they served it without 20 questions.
