We did a shop yesterday at the Grand Bourg in the Creuse. They had no custard creams and almost ended in disaster until the owner pointed out a packet that was labelled tasties. Which looked and tasted like custard creams. I did check a couple of years ago that they had Richmond skinless sausages. Since brexit its very complicated for meat products to the EU but she said from January it's going to be even harder rule wise, no idea what's happening in January. Everything they get comes from Ireland now so got a good selection of Christmas goodies. No idea why the biscuits are called tastiest probably Irish counterfeit custard creams. The sausage rolls look nice.

The last Cheddar I bought (from Intermarche) looked more like Red Leicester and had a distinct caramel taste - much like a Norwegian cheese I remember from a very long time ago. Nothing like a vintage farmhouse Cheddar. What does yours taste like?

The full rules come into force on 1 Jan 2022

Most of our meat comes via Bacon in a Box. The steak is tender and the sausages are very nice. We also buy from a local expat shop that imports a lot of items direct from Ireland. All good stuff. Our nearest Carrefour keeps Wyke Farms Cheddar (Somerset) which is convenient if we run out but don't need a big order from the other suppliers.

And, if you think 2021 was fun, well, next year is going to be a barrel of monkies

At the moment our very local smallish Super U (5 mins away in the car, and our speed limit is 80kph) has a choice of mature Irish cheddar and mature Scottish cheddar. We had no idea that they sold these .. we've tried both and they are delicious, and make a pleasant change from the various Cantals we often buy.
@@mysty .. you've only got 11 days to eat up those custard creams, according to the best before date 😊

Good for you Bet we can't get proper scampi .. you are right; as genuine UK scampi is langoustine tails and the tails we buy from Super U are from prawns .. but they are delicious anyhow.

I knew it too, and it is bearable that I meant; I'm not a custard cream fan.
