Seems you all have never watched Border Patrol - USA, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Canada, Dubai or even UK Border Force.
Give it a go; could be a lucrative side hustle for the future or a free place with meals to live for a while..

Fined Or can I just tick the box now something to declare Fined. Some even get deported and banned from returning for three years.

Speeding aside! The Border Control guards do very well on siezing (larger than 5l) jerrycans of fuel, seen it happen many many times and never ever a fine imposed, most memorable was a guy having 4 x 20l siezed only for the guy to complain "zees ees diésel and not essence like you told me, my voiture ees essence!" and with that he was then allowed to embarque with his fuel cans! I have been scrutinised on every journey in each direction in the last year because I have been towing removal trailers, the first time they wanted to know that I had filled out the customs declaration and they took a copy, since then they have not even wanted to see my copy which I keep adding stuff to, most of the time they just ask what I am carrying and dont look inside, if they do its cursory. I am definitely on their radar because of the frequent trips, last time on the way to the UK with the trailer empty they had a real good look for a false floor, lifting up the carpet tiles, looking at the joints in the plywood etc. In 17 years the only thing of note was a pal having 4 cans of gun grade expanding foam siezed as hazardous goods by Eurotunnel, the guy probably had a project on at home. Is this an online customs declaration or a paper form you fill in out of interest pcpa?
I said no to the cheese by the way......

Its a dairy product so prohibited, but you could play the gamble and try it. What's the worst that could happen? A lot of people are just waved through customs control without a check. I don’t think Aardvark realises just how seriously the French are about cheese.

JohhnyD.
It was on paper, the basic CERFA form is downloaded from any number of sources, I then added a written inventaire which they charmingly refer to as a "packing list"
A copy is taken on the first journey if they stop you that is and they have the right to visit for a year, might be 18 months to make sure I have not sold my posessions, after that I am free to do what I like with everything.
I had 6 months to complete the removal which hasn't happened, the final journey will be next spring, probably 10 months, I'm not counting, what remains to transport was all declared.

Whats my possibilities with the following pcpa, maison secondaire as you know, i want to bring out on Saturday a 4K PC monitor worth over £1000, and a set of loudspeakers for the TV for surround sound, as well as the usual stuff like laptops/phones etc, i am happy to either leave in the French house, or bring it back home with me, and take it out everytime we travel, what is the best/cheapest legal way to do that?

Are they new or can they be made to look second hand?
Most of what you describe is the stuff that people take with them on a visit and may or may not take back with them, they really are not getting excited about stuff like this.
As long as you are not carrying a significant quantity of new and expensive goods or say a van load of clearly new computers that you claim are second hand and for your own use they are not going to bother you, I still see the architypal (spelling!) P&O builders with vans & trailers loaded with tools & materials, they get asked a couple of questions & let through, it's business as usual, the one that was given the business was towing a trailer mounted Cherry Picker still with the hire company stickers all over it, clearly that was an importation but the driver could have got away with it had he declared a removal and put some other stuff in with it.
You do not want to do that as in time you probably will be moving to France.

Yes that is another key date, going by past experience they might confiscate a few sandwiches for a photo opportunity but for normal non criminal people, 2nd home owners, P&O renovators (not builders) life goes on unchanged as it did before before, we just reflect a bit more on some of the bigger excesses.
Do the rules actually get any tighter for the likes of you and I and our movements? For businesses they certainly will also for those hiding their trade as personal effects but they would always have come under scrutiny dependant on the luck of the draw.

I dont think that anything changes on the 1st of Feb for an individual, any notional restrictions are notionally already in place.
