A short item on the news tonight indicating that more and more people in France are drinking their tap water. Apparently filtering it gets rid of useful minerals and nutrients, and if it smells/tastes of chlorine, let it stand for a while and the chlorine taste/smell will disappear. Trying that last one as I type.

Yes .. here too. No filter as it takes out too many good things in the water.
Edit : In fact I have always drunk tap water wherever we have lived in France and in the UK.

Here in Spain only in the campo (countryside) as in the cities it does smell like chlorine and takes your body a couple days to get used to it.
Useful about the filter filtering out some of the good stuff. I have installed 3 this year in apartments for friends, clients.

Yes - no filter just water from local springs, collected in a bassin and piped to the village.

Always drunk tap water wherever we've lived (except Nepal). What we won't drink is bottled water - God knows what rubbish breeds in that stuff while it's in storage.

Yes I drink the tap water. Better than most of the plastic bottled stuff.

Ditto - unfiltered tap water supplied from local springs.

Not likely! Despite all the advice to the contrary, OH ran the mains through a filter without leaving the kitchen tap unfiltered. Not only that, but in every resto in the SW that I've ever drunk tap water, I've felt ill shortly afterwards. No problem with mineral water or wine, though.

Yes. Our mains water in France seems to suit us very well. In UK we have filtered our drinking water for the past twenty years after the source was changed.

Always drink tap water, we have a fridge with a water filter plumbed in if we want cold water.
Otherwise for tea, coffee or cooking we always have tap water.
I must admit though that I prefer the taste of bottled water if just for a drink of water.

Yes, we drink tap water, never buy bottled water - I always have a bottle of tap water in the fridge for those who want it cold.

No, we drink bottled water. We are not on the mains and our water comes from a forage and we haven't had it tested. We use the tap water for everything else, cooking, hot drinks, bathing etc.
