Mindful of how BA would have to police this and not giving any wriggle room on it, we are changing plans - a week outside Barcelona in a hotel out in the sticks. BA have four flights a day into Barcelona and the hotel is keen to have us, it is a no brainer! That sounds like a good move.

Thanks Dominic..
I’ve read at least one report that on Sat AM, just after the new restrictions came, some Brits arriving in France on a popular LoCo were being turned around by PAF and sent straight back home…this wasn’t at TLS, it was at another regional airport.
That’s probably going to mean more grief for some ground staff in the UK somewhere and is the reason why ground staff at all airlines will sticking to the letter of any rules, it won’t just be BA.

Well, you could not make it up!
She kept the booking to France and duly arrived at LHR with it and the back up to Barcelona. I should mention here that BA were on the ball last night as online check-ins had beed disabled. So fearing the worst but not too worried, she fronted up to BA w here she was asked for her 24hr test and vaccine proof. These were quickly accepted and she was handed a boarding card and wishes for a pleasant flight!
She quickly popped over to the main desk for a voucher exchange for the Barcelona flight, boarded to Toulouse to await her fate there,
At. Toulouse, again a check on her pcr result and vaccine proof and then the question on her travel reason, She said joining family and pulled copies of my tds etc, to which the control chap said not necessary and have a bon fete!
I just wonder how much of these entry restrictions are aimed to hit the fear factor that puts people off without even trying to enter the country, and that if one is well presented, travelling on a scheduled passage, is accepted? I am hearing today of at least two other incidents at the tunnel of persons fully expected to be turned back, are accepted,

I'm sure you are right Hal, few people will have the means to have the back up that you and your wife had nor the confidence to carry it through so compliance with their objective will be 99%.
French friends travelled to Spain yesterday, she is bi-lingual, this is the message she sent me:
21 degrees at 1 pm. 13 degrees at the moment . She has a lot of English clients, here. I met Scottish people today. We are eating a paella.
I'm glad it worked out well, have a good Xmas!

The passenger in front of me coming off the ferry at Caen on Wednesday obviously was OKd for her paperwork at Portsmouth, but had lots of finger wagging from the Douanier. She was pulled to one side presumably until everyone else had passed through for further investigation.
