I'm sure they are both 17 which is the right size. Eight nuts to tighten so allowing for one to snap.

Just to satisfy my lack of knowledge.............What is the piece of wood for? You have obviously never cut through your tendons in the foot. If you screw the spanner onto wood it's far enough away from the foot and if the angle grinder jumps or you have a funny turn or lose concentration you do not cause any damage to the body.

Don't put your foot in the vice with the spanner! I knew what the wood was for, a wise precaution.

Ah-ha. No olive. Forget the Martini. Give the brazed nozzles a good wire brushing and check for cracks. Baste them in oil before reassembly.

Updated on the old digger. The cut down spanner worked and got the injectors tight with no weeping or leaks cannot remember who suggested them but thanks. Other than a track coming off a few times it's been running like a 35 year old digger ☺ and has almost finished the garden. Quite a bit of play in the king pin thingy now but just another few day and it's off to a new home. I had it on FB last year and got offered between 2500 with the broken arm to 4000 fixed. Had an ad on leboncoin at 6500 which was top money and got a 6000 offer from the first person to view this morning. Three others turned up one was quite rude and not happy. It's not been the most reliable digger but got the jobs done and pulled out a lot of old tree roots. Should be collected later next week.

Thank you. I'm happy that the suggestion was useful.

I bet that in line with all old agricultural machinery, those pipes have been over-tightened a dozen times. Olives are a perfect fit, flares also but only requiring a nip to seal them, But then in wade the farmers!
BTW, I'd do something about your air intake - I presume the cleaner is off for a reason?

It came with it missing about 5 years ago, I should have picked a second hand one up.

You have been running it for five years like that?? That is a testament to something - the engine and/or your belief in the indestructabilty of a diesel engine
