There are now four different themes available, which take up more or less screen real estate. Originally there were three: Default, Lite, and Prolassic; I've added Banner-free Default. Screenshots of the four are below, and beneath those how to easily change your theme.
Default
Banner-free Default
Lite
Prolassic
To change your theme, on the bottom right of your page (in Desktop view if on a mobile) you should see the following - click on the round rainbow:

I appreciate your efforts & will try them all, my observation from looking at your screenshots and clicking them to view fullsize as instructed is that the problem is even worse.
They all have the same or more amount of unused space at the sides (the height was never a problem) and with my screen at 80% I have to scroll to read them all from left to right except for the default.

Changing the magnification has now resulted in my losing the windows toolbar at the top and the Firefox one at the bottom so I cannot close the forum, open another window, view another website, close windows or firefox open another browser or switch the computer on or off.
The whole screen is taken up by the forum, if I use CRTL + or - it gets bigger or smaller but I have lost everthing else.
I will have to remove the battery, lord knows what I will be left with after that.

Removed battery and rebooted, always tense as my machine refuses to restart (after that alone) without forcing the switch with a screwdriver.
Theme changed to banner free default and I can indeed now view it at 100% so a big thankyou from me.
There is a bug though, I tried 110% magnification and once again I have lost the Windows and Firefox toolbars and no end of reduction of zoom will bring them back, I now have to risk the battery removal all over again.
There is still unused space at the side of the screen but at least I can now, after 3 months read the text, I dont know if its something to do with the height to width ratio being optimised for phones or tablettes, if it could be used then there would be more text on each line, every little helps.
Editted. A CTRL ALT DEL worked this time and now I can have the forum at 110% with the toolbars, 100% is fine though.
Thanks again for finally resolving this, I knew that I was not the only one suffering.

Glad there's improvement for you and lapourtaider . There is a bug though, I tried 110% magnification and once again I have lost the Windows and Firefox toolbars and no end of reduction of zoom will bring them back, I now have to risk the battery removal all over again. If there is a bug, I'm 99% sure that it is at your end, ie on your computer; even going up to 150% on my Windows 7 laptop using Firefox, the increase in size is only with the site being viewed and has no effect on the browser or computer toolbars.

For an explanation of the difference between fixed width (the Default with banner) and variable width (banner-free default), have a look at this post on the Support forum and click the Spoiler: support.proboards.com/post/7291976/thread

YesI'm sure its a peculiarity of mine, I can now zoom as big as I like without any issue.
Just being able to go up to 100% is a great Christmas present, the only one but the best!
