A week or so ago this site was being advertised on the old New French Forum as the place to go now they have stopped running it. Now, there is no mention of this new site. I got the impression that they were happy that the new site had been created and were telling people it was here, but maybe it took off faster than they thought and they regret closing the other one.
We were all on a pleasure cruise with the New French Forum, then it took on water and we had to abandon ship, fortunatly we found this desert island, but it's had to be built from the bottom up.

I'm just grateful that the TNFF members were directed here when I set it up, mysty and AtS were supportive of my efforts, which is enough for me, though I would have preferred it if TNFF stayed open.

Out of interest, will folk banned from the old forum be allowed on here? No one person in mind so please dont anyone assume this is aimed.

I don't think there is anything to stop anyone who wants to joining, is there? It's easy enough if you don't hit the same sort of blips with the initial process as somehave done. If a different name is used, no-one will even know - not to start with, anyway

Ah - I don't think I know Susan but if someone wanted to start a separate forum with different members then I don't see why they shouldn't! I was just puzzled, that's all. as there had only been a reference to this one before....

I believe I'm right in saying that Char, who has set up France in Focus, was originally responsible for setting up the software for TNFF. She was also on Total France and French Entree, so she goes back a long way with many members on here.

There is no conspiracy going on. Robert Arthur asked if he could have a little longer to save posts which he got, I asked him to let me know when he had everything he needed so it could then come down which he did. TNFF was always going to come down, no point running, maintaining and paying for an empty forum. We were still getting contacted by non members are saying they cannot login on this site and as I don't run this site, I can't help them get on but still spent time answering them trying to help. So we have been giving out the address to this forum when we have been contacted but you need to get a "contact us" on this site. Some old members don't like to have to login to see what's gone up but FFS like anyone else that has run a forum will find out you cannot keep everyone happy. The other forum is one a lot of TNFF members will know too because it is Char's new forum and some of you are already members on her Way down in France but that is her new address so rather than some people getting lost and having no where to go, two forum addresses were being given and are now up on the home page so we don't have to do anything.

That sounds eminently sensible @mysty! I really wasn't suggesting a conspiracy or anything like it - I was just confused Easily done, unfortunately...
I genuinely don't know how anyone can run a forum, let alone want to, so the whole concept interests me!

So if I've got this right, Char has started the France in Focus forum, having previously set up WayDowninFrance, which the new forum is a replacement for?
ATS2 has gone into retirement and Mysty has a finger in all sorts of pies in a supportive capacity but isn't running any of them!
Please correct me if I've got that wrong - I'm a bit slow today

Please correct me if I've got that wrong - I'm a bit slow today 1 Yes Charlotte has started France in Focus .. she's very into photography. The new forum is not a replacement forum, it is an additional forum as she likes experimenting. 2 In my view Susan was keen to take a (short) break, no talk of retirement yet 😊. She and Mysty helped a few members get the right advice on how to register here. Mysty does his own thing.
