So hungry at lunchtime but so tired, too tired to make up my usual salad. I took one of my many courgettes that I can't give away for love nor money, chopped up, cooked in microwave with a little water then drained and melted in a good chunk of goat's cheese. Mmmm, so tasty, eaten with a spoon and bread and butter. Saved the cooking water for soup tomorrow, that will be courgette soup of course.

Just sat down with a beer and some crispy kale. Kale out of the garden, covered in olive oil, sprinkle salt, in the oven for 15 min at 130°C. Delicious, better than potatoe crisps.

I have just picked some blackberries that I intend to eat after my evening meal. Does any one know of a way of making it less likely of finding any other things like larvae in them? We have acres of blackberry bramble and although they're heavily laden with fruit, none is ready to pick yet. Is yours a cultivated variety Nifty or has your native stuff just ripened early? I'm looking forward to picking some because a friend has given us some home grown Bramleys and I'm longing to make a few blackberry and apple pies.

Trouble. we went for lunch in an old priory in Lezat. It was restored a few years ago OH had Lange d boef I did not fancy that so settled on some fish severed with rice. I was not over impressed, but it was not good nor bad. I got to thinking about the history of the priory and figured that it must have had some Roman influence at some time and got into reading a bit about the fall of Rome. Somewhat complex. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merovingian_dynasty#Religionnb. Though not central religion, all restaurants or hotels can probably thank religion and the veneration of some sacred relics for one of the original reasons their existence.

Large plaice on the bone, quite expensive, is it worth it?

A delicious prawn curry it was today We had the same JSKS. Our local shop had large raw prawns on offer today so I bought just over a kilo and made a huge prawn curry. 10€ for at least 4 large portions of curry is good. The stock from simmering the prawn shells gave the curry a subtle addition to the flavour.

Very rushed today, so we’ve just eaten spiced rice and lentils with onions with sweet potato felafels taken from the freezer, from the Waitrose Levantine Table range - very tasty, although I liked it more than my husband.

Veem re blackberries yes, I think that they are cultivated. about half a dozen plants against a wall. I have picked about half of the fruit. I have had one portion. Although I didn’t find any sign of things I’d rather weren’t in them, the thought of it put me of of them I am going to leave them in the freezer for the owners. I have noticed that wild blackberries are not as ripe, or as big ftm.

It's the two black labs that confused me!
