I found a half pack of potatoes in the cave, sprouting. I hate wasting food so I've made tuna and sweetcorn fish cakes with chives. I'll dip them in egg and breadcrumbs before frying in oil. Served with salad.

I'll stick to the 'foodies' section.....I had stuff to use up as well, so ended up with a bacon and cheeseburger served with roast pots, fried eggs and some black and white pudding. Disgustingly gorgeous;

Chicken Youvetsi - which I can now heartily recommend as a hangover cure.

Grilled Oysters with a crème fraîche, white wine, cayenne and parmesan topping as a starter. Roast breasts of Quail with roasted celeriac and beetroot (all from the garden) in a romaine salad with an as yet, undetermined dressing.

Rib eye steak with a sort of béarnaise sauce, big, fat mushrooms, baked tomatoes and potato gratin (M&S). Decided to take things easy after our walk, so bought chocolate éclairs also at M&S as we came home.

Forced to have roast beef as OH accidentally left a bag of assorted meats out of the freezer while searching for some ice-cream. It’s a dirty job but someone has to do it! 😆 We’ll be eating it for next few days as it’s a rather large joint I had been saving for when friends come round to eat…

Tonight will be omlette and salad. Decision made when I noticed that I have some lardons which have an expiry date of tomorrow, along with some Gruyere.

I saw trofie recommended on the beeb good food once and I am currently using a pasta called mafalde court which are little squares. Both work well. There is a small rice grain type pasta, risoni or risetti but I think they are too small and I don't like the texture. Good Luck
