I am pretty much of the same view as Lindal, my predictions of how much France was lagging behind the UK (6-14) days from some fag packet calcs using what the R rate was thought to be, turned out to be about right, that means that the UK figures will start falling while France still climbs for a week or more.
At some stage, and we may even be there now the curves will cross, France will have more cases and growing, the UK's falling, it is spreading so fast that it will reach saturation before the end of the month and fall to close to zero very fast.
Frances réveillon celebrations will turbocharge their figures and significantly reduce the delay behind the UK, both countries will probably reach the finish line together.
Many countries are removing measures because it is so widespread they are ineffective and not blocking travel to and from other countries at a similar stage.
I am going to say some restrictions lifted within 14 days, free movement by the end of the month.
FFS unlike last year I'm afraid this time I don't know the detail of the current restrictions as being a French resident UK national I am allowed to travel to and from the UK and the next trip will be a removal.

I can only reiterate the previous replies. We had no problem coming home to France last Wednesday as we are CDS holding residents. At least one passenger on the ferry was held back to the end as her paperwork (on her phone) wasn't satisfactory to the Douanier. On the news this morning a lot of the new rules that come into force this morning are for at least 3 weeks if that helps.
Having had a successful but very stressful trip to the UK to see family, I won't be going to the UK again until travel restrictions and conditions are very much reduced.

It’s amazing how people on Internet forums know things that experts don’t Most certainly not an expert and never claimed to be, but you have to have something to use as a basis for planning out the next few months so my guess is as good as any...And of course I will almost certainly be wrong on something so plans will inevitably change..bit I'd rather do that than no plans at all. My current dilemma is whether to travel to Bordeaux next week to do my teaching face to face, or whether to try and do it remotely. I may not even have a choice. And my brother is tentatively planning a trip to Italy in February. He may have to delay it or it may be okay.

Thanks Tim17 for posting that, it does not appear to cater for second home Brits wishing to maintain their properties in France, unless I paused there (for a couple of weeks) whilst transiting through France...

I have said it on another thread, but I do wonder how much these rules are coined up to put people off before the first hurdle? My wife, a non resident without a TdS, has now just come in for the second time in as many weeks, armed with copies of my TdS and a notaire letter that she is a house owner, fully expecting to be refused entry. Each time, plenty of examination of health documents by BA and Toulouse, but just an ok nod of the head for her reason to visit.

I think it may end soon AP and travel will be allowed again for all, the ban is achieving nothing now in my view and just damaging both economies, isnt there a review at the next meeting of the people in power to discuss ending the ban? We are mentally planning our cancelled Christmas trip for the end of Jan now.......and no I'm not an expert, this is just my 'view'

Apparently a meeting on Wednesday 12th where they are expected to announce that UK tourists will be allowed to go to France.
