Thanks for this exile - so what you are saying is that a Lateral Flow test is more indicative for infectious people. So why is the PCR regarded as the ultimate test?

Both the PCR and lateral flows when they show positive are around 99% correct.
The lateral flow gives false negatives, about 40% of the time if you are asymptomatic for example.
The PCR doesn't give false negatives, which is why it is the definitive test.

Some of the false negatives maybe down to poor technique

How long might a dead virus cell remain and still show positive on a PCR...?

How long might a dead virus cell remain and still show positive on a PCR...? Some people have stated many months, I dont know if that is true though or if there is an accurate medical answer........

Apparently a meeting on Wednesday 12th where they are expected to announce that UK tourists will be allowed to go to France. Does anyone know when/where this meeting is tomorrow?

Tomorrow there's a defence meeting first thing followed by a cabinet meeting.

Then start of July, I get bouts of indigestion for no reason and felt groggy. Go to A&E, five hours later I have a stent shoved in! In hospital three days. Is that a stent as in an operation to put a liner in an artery Hal?
If so it sounds like A you were very fortunate and prudent to seek medical attention when you did and also that a stent is no longer the operation that I thought it was.
In any case I'm very pleased that you are still with us and in better health than you would have been had you not exposed the weakness, and yes your covid result does sound anomolous, if your theory is correct then you have a strong heart and immunity system and the heart now has a belt & braces reinforcement.
Whichever it is the gods have smiled on you (thumbsup)

Thanks. I still do not know who you are - but is it Chancer re-incarnated by any chance?
A stent is a "20 minute" procedure if it works first time.
I ahve since discovered they do not elevate you into any higher level of medical science club - it seems everyone I meet now has a stent - in fact only one stent is kindergarten level in the club! They certainly do some good as I am in the gym pretty well every day and hardly break sweat!
On a serious note - yes, they said I was an anomaly seeking attention so quickly. Men apparantly are the worst and leave things to drag so that a lot of cases end up in open heart surgery. The other thing the medics say is that Gaviscon and the like are dangerous and should be banned as they hide indigestion and heartburn pain, whereas in fact 90% of such pains are not indigestion but heart attacks! There are a few TV documentaries on the subject. Trouble is that the manufacturers of these products are too powerful and get away with making and selling killer drugs.
So, please, anyone relying on Gaviscon, get yourself to hospital!

Gabriel Attal in response to a question at a press conference, stated that they are currently looking at the possibility of reducing the restrictions between UK/ France and that there will be an announcement in the next few days, probably by the end of the week.

However there is a big difference between removing restrictions because the virus situation improved and removing them because it’s so bad everywhere there’s no point having them

As I reported two posts up. To be clear, he said the announcement should be made by the end of the week, not what the new conditions would be or when they would come into effect.

My OH is returning this evening from Newhaven with DFDS. They insisted he had to go and get an LFT test as his PCR was done on Monday so they said out of date. Another thing he needed was a French Passenger Locator form stating where he would be staying and isolating for 10 days.
He has been travelling back and forth to work during the entire pandemic and today it seemed more complicated than ever before.
He has 2 appointments on Friday, are you allowed out of quarantine for those?
Thanks
