Apparently it is now a ritual on New Year’s Eve in France. 874 cars set on fire

I wonder how many were insurance scams What a cynical thing to think, I said to myself when I had the same thought.

I wonder how many of the arrests will lead to a decent prosecution?

Apparently it is now a ritual on New Year’s Eve in France. Now as in not before?
Apparently now French inward opening windows are rubbish.
I have friends who live in the HLMs at Amiens Nord where there are frequent riots and a permanent CRS presence, in the days leading up to the fête newish but immobile cars are deposited in their car park by various dépanneurs working for cash, as soon as an unknown vehicle is spotted everybody moves their cars a long way from it and then as if by magic more and more plateaux arrive to offload other other vehicles.
On the night no local vehicles are parked in the quartier except those already broken down awaiting a touch or those of their friends relatives doing the same, for a family gathering they will remove their cars from the quartier and all the invitées will arrive by foot, taxi or bus.

Those are presumably the cars to be burnt, but where do they come from? Surely someone owns them?

Are you kidding?!!!
This is not like a bonfire being created on waste land where people bring their fence panels, tree cuttings & old chipboard furniture to add.
Who but the owners of these immobile too expensive to repair (or just incompetent garages failing) otherwise valuable vehicles would be paying cash to the dépanneurs to drop them there?

Formatting screwed up once again, its impossible to quote someones post whilst removing the unrequired text that they have quoted, it does not print what shows on the screen, if you edit and add it in it then it shows at the end making it read back to front.

It is possible, but not very simple. What text of mine did you want to quote?

What I wanted to do was quote your posting with that text, delete any other text of yours (easy enough) and delete what you had quoted from me and also "PCPA said" thats when it screws everything up.
The reason for doing so is otherwise it shows "PCPA said FFS said" etc but not the words I was quoting or as they show on my screen before pressing submit.

its impossible to quote someones post whilst removing the unrequired text that they have quoted, Easiest done by selecting BBCode then editing text
