But wherever you are, that is how it works. If you want to buy a house in Spain, UK, Australia etc, you go to an estate agent. They act on behalf of the vendor and get paid on a commission basis. The TV programmes where an expert takes you to 5 properties are not real life. Not so. I sold my house in Holland without the use of an agent. Easy enough with an online contract and final legal stuff with a notary. I do not know if this is also possible here in France.

Nope, I am green to the system.However, I saw the estate advertised on the Safer site and went with the flow. Got it at half price and don't remember who gained apart from the notaris.
