My internet cable was recently updated for one of the glass cable thingies; the result is that my air printer no longer works; it keeps asking for the WEP code to get started. Apart from a clé wifi and a mot de passe d’administration I seem to have no other numbers. Any ideas please where this elusive code can be located?

Your wifi signal is not 'visible' for everyone: it should be encrypted, an authentication protocol for your security. More about the (old) WEP protocol. It takes two to tango: your router and your wireless devices should tune in to the same song.

Oddly enough the air printer only works if I turn the wifi off on the ipad.

A lot of these gadgets have the factory set WEP on the barcode sticker on the back or bottom of the gadget. It is where you normally find serial numbers and model numbers etc. edit.. if I read your OP correctly, you are looking for the printer WEP, so look for the sticker on the printer.
