If you want to draw another member's attention to a post, you can tag them using the @ key. The task is made easy here: at the point in your post where you want to put the tag, click on the Insert User Link button - see below:
When you do that, a dialogue box opens, as below:
Type the first letters of the member's name and you'll get a dropdown list to click on:
Click on the relevant member and the job's done! Continue to type your post...

That won't work, because I changed my display name from my username; the two aren't the same. Everyone can change their display name to what they want, but the username always stays the same.

Another way, you can hold Alt and click on the person's name, FFS.

You must have quoted me pdq. As soon as my post appeared I changed it. However I'm sure I have done that at least once with ajm iirc. Hence I was surprised when it didn't work with you. I know why now.

Another way, you can hold Alt and click on the person's name, FFS . That's great if it works for you, cleoj , but it doesn't for me.
Edit: I've worked it out, see following post.

After further investigation, I've discovered how using the Alt + click works now, cleoj : the method ONLY works when using the Quick Reply box - if you are typing in the Quick Reply box and want to tag someone, it is at the point where you want to add the tag that you can use Alt + clicking the member's Display Name, which adds the tag into your Quick Reply post. Otherwise, using the Insert User Link icon is the quickest route.
