We have a winner mains gas pipes. Running between them, or in a line below them ? At a guess I would say somewhere in between the bornes you would find the gas mains. I guess they are there to make anyone aware who has a JCB or similar to avoid digging anywhere near them.

But our bornes don't look like that.

I guess they are there to make anyone aware who has a JCB or similar to avoid digging anywhere near them. Says the owner of a jcb... There should be a licensing requirement to operate one especially if the owner has to read a sign before knowing what it is. What if the sign was not there??

At a guess I would say somewhere in between the bornes you would find the gas mains. I guess they are there to make anyone aware who has a JCB or similar to avoid digging anywhere near them More usually, the pipe line is marked by the 'hat on a pole' as in the centre of photo 2. They are there for aerial observation and easily recogniable from the air. There are regular helicopter patrols that follow the markers and if any deep digging is detected, they will land and investigate. I know this as all those years ago, I was offered a job as a patrol pilot. I have been waiting all these years for the subject to come up in a pub quiz, and here it is!
