But for me it gets tiresome when someone constantly take the opposite stance on any topic and appears to thrive on arguments and conflict. I have seen it posted that this is the purpose of a forum. Go figure. That’s pretty unacceptable behaviour too but I didn’t notice anyone playing devil’s advocate like this on UIF.

I am a member of Expatforum but the french mod is difficult at times.. Its topics normally are only old brits trying to come to france or Spain. Or young ones who have no chance of meeting the income requirements.. Since brexit its topics are now filled with old americans trying to come to France. (e) or Americans trying to find stuff they cannot find in the old world (/e)

Is ALBF still on Expat forum? He seems to have disappeared from my universe.

ALBF is alive occasionally kicking on CF, causing few or no problems, touch wood!

I have noticed that. Lots of sound advice on coping with paperwork, moving, visas, and such but pretty stale otherwise. Very little about life once they get here. And it looks like they all want to go to either Paris or the expensive South coast. They must all be well paid high rollers.

Was ALBF the problem or was it those who took delight in pushing his buttons?

Was ALBF the problem or was it those who took delight in pushing his buttons? A valid question. I think ALBF liked winding people up, which in turn provoked the button pushing. Just saying.

Was ALBF the problem or was it those who took delight in pushing his buttons? I might well have been one of those people. However ABLF and others like him often post false information that could be very confusing to people who genuinely needed to know facts. If helping them is considered to be pushing someone’s buttons then I’m sorry, it’s going to happen.

His viewpoint is different from most people’s on here as he lives in a French middle class household, has a French wife and young kids, with extended family roundabout. So he expounds on what he sees as some of the unreal views on France and French living put forward by expats in France or second homers. Or rather reflects the views of his circle. Sometimes he is a bit too direct for some posters but not enough to ban him. The occasional inappropriate word is easily edited. His spelling is odd because he is dyslexic

In some areas like his supposed former employment he seemed to have enough knowledge to convince me that he indeed had worked at an administrative level in logistics. In other areas he was however completely in the dark about other areas.

I think he has a good sense of humour, so good that at times it was difficult to know if he was being serious or winding people up.
After a very long time I worked out that some of his usernames and their initials were poking fun at something, I wont say who, what or how as he kept it quiet then thats how it should remain.
