The back seats in my Picasso were taken out last summer to make room to transport stuff. Do they need to go back in for the CT? If they do I'll have to find someone to help me. My husband can barely walk, let alone lift anything.

www.autosur.fr/preparer-le-passage-au-controle-techniqueAll the seatbelts are checked. If the anchors are part of the seat that has been removed, then yes they have to be fitted. NB: this is my interpretation of the rules, no personal experience. In addition, according to the pdf in the above link, childseats have to be removed, which backs up that the seats have to be accessible.

We used to have a Renault 4 mainly to do the tip run so the back seats were taken out. Not a problem with the CT - but it was a long time ago.

We have a Renault 4 and the seats were out when I took it for the CT, it was just noted but wasn't a fail.

Could you ring or pass by the testing station and pose the question?

I've just managed to get them back in. I don't look forward to the affect on my back and neck, but what has to be done must be done. Thanks for the advice everyone.

The middle belt in the back seat of our Peugeot estate is locked up and won't pull out of the retractor. The retractor is inside the seat back and I can't find any way to get inside without stripping off the upholstery. Reluctant to destroy the seat I just leave it as it is. At least five C.T.s have been passed without a mention.
Like many things. C.T. tests can be a lottery.

I liked your post but not because you have hurt yourself but what you said earlier. You could do with finding someone close by to give a helping hand when needed. There is a good site in the Creuse where an elderly woman could not open the valve on a gas bottle someone popped along that day to help.

I know I need some help but don't know where to start looking. I've never been part of the British expat scene hereabouts and all of our friends have moved on or died. I don't like to cultivate friendships just because I want something out of it. I'll ask at the local shop, see if they know anyone.

Ask at the Mairie, too, MT. Ours has recently started up exactly that sort of scheme to help out residents on an ad-hoc basis. It's not free....nothing round here ever is but you never know.....

Do you have neighbours close ? What are your relations like with them.

Our neighbours are all elderly and mostly keep themselves to themselves.

Like many things. C.T. tests can be a lottery. CT tests ARE a lottery! I have a little Skoda Felicia pick up - basically an old Polo with two front seats and a truck bed behind. (My favourite car ) Two years ago, popped it into Point S for new tyres, and it sailed through CT. Last week, it failed on tyres! The carcasses were fine, but they had a load rating of 79 which is OK for the four door saloon version, but the truck is rated to carry 50kgs more, so it must have a load rating of 83 on the tyres! Point S were pretty good and calculated a refund based on wear and tear without me asking, it was not much, but pretty decent of them - mind you, I buy some pretty serious tyres from them for the other cars, so I guess they thought good PR (says the cynic in me..)

I just got back from the CT. Failed on pollution. The guy said I need to take it to a garage and have it 'cleaned' with a product. Can anyone tell me what he means. My husband is too high on morphine to make any sense when I ask him for help.
