Live/neutral reversed is par for the course, a 50/50 chance of being right, if you test many bloc multiprises on trailing leads, extesion leads etc you will find that half are reversed polarity by dint of the design.
My whole building had been connected by EDF with reversed polarity, assuming the electric was connected when it was built then it had been like that for 90 years through various evolutions and extensions of the wiring.
It had no disjoncteurs but rewirable cartridge fuses to (not)isolate each circuit, trouble is they disconnected the neutral so the circuit was still live, that and the absence of earthing and RCD protection made it a death trap, ERDF reconnected me when I moved in and still did not notice.
