I am still waiting to hear back from HMRC on my last one regarding claiming back VAT on personal shopping - although I was told by a numb head brexiteer that it had stopped, and rightly so! He did not see why them jonny foreigners should come over here and buy things VAT free, it was taking jobs away. Honestly..? I tell you, the average wit of a numb head is inversely proportional to the proximity of their knuckles dragging on the ground. Anyway, enough of that. As HMRC do not answer their phones, and take an age to reply, I am going to try for a quicker result here maybe. I bought VAT free, an expensive item from brexitland, and paid TVA here on delivery. However said item is incorrect and admitted so by the supplier who without fuss will change it and pay the return shipping. What happens re the TVA and VAT - on arrival at brexitland shores, is there a way to say that the item is being sent back for exchange and VAT does not apply, and secondly, how do I prevent TVA being charged again on re-delivery of the replacement item?

There is a process for returning goods that are unsuitable or for repair. The repaired/replacement goods are sent under with specific paperwork and conditions.
I suggest a detailed search with your favourite search engine.
