Let's face it, something went so badly wrong in their life they became a police officer. Pray tell, what illustrious career did you pursue? Oh my goodness two posts back you were a police critic now you've gone all Shakespeare on me. Where to start? The beginning I suppose. Well first off I'd say I've either never had a career or I've had several. I've certainly had loads of jobs and variety in my work life. I started as a mechanical engineering draughtsman, after an apprenticeship of course. I then became a quality control inspector working long hours for money I couldn't have previously imagined. However a family came along and after a year as a full time mature student. I moved into structural engineering. Parallel with that I was radio operator in the Territorial Army. That saw me "headhunted" (big head hunted, perhaps) and I quit my civvy job while I was seconded to 1st Armoured Division BAOR. That was a less than sensible decision given my marital/family status but, looking back, I have few regrets as a contact I made paved the way to my final jobs as a cadastral draughtsman, property maintenance officer and town planner. Those last 3 gave me the wherewithal to retire at 56. I've driven taxis and HGVs, I've briefly worked in the NHS, I had an ice cream van in the summer of '76. I owned half of easily the best mobile disco in Ayrshire from 1978 to 1980. I hasten to add I was not a DJ. I owned a small but lucrative window cleaning business in the 80s. I'm not sure that's all but I've never been a policeman. Oh, I was once a rent collector. Just as bad as a cop probably. No wonder my mind tried to erase it. During all of that there was barely a year where I was not studying for and attaining a formal qualification. I couldn't say in all honesty it was all fun but I'm more than content with how it panned out so, if I could, I wouldn't go back and change the smallest thing, good or bad You weren't a policeman were you?

Interesting reading. Here was me thinking most people on expat forums had been some sort of paper pusher in their working life. Respect.

Stephen House is a career policeman who has risen to the top of a fundamentally crooked profession. Of course he's not suitable to be CC. No cop is. Very few cops are not corrupt or guilty turning a blind eye to bad policing. Those who do, do not progress.

In your comprehensive CV, you obviously missed out the bit where you suffered a miscarriage of justice which has resulted in your angst with regard to the police? Is this limited to the police, or do you carry a large chip against all authority? However, I'll pass your observations on to two members of my family, one an inspector, one a Chief inspector, in two different forces, and I'm sure they will value your comments and think hard about their previous corrupt dealings which have allowed them to achieve their current ranks!

I do have to disagree with you. Other than being a lawyer, a policeman/woman is the worst profession to have..
ROBOCOP is the future...

Are you sure you're not a cop? You ask a lot of questions. Yes do that. They'll have the resources to track me down and persecute me. That's what your suggesting, isn't it, while validating my point? Night night.

There were another two cases at the end of the week that I didn't post on here as they are still live. Sexual assault and GBH. It's indefensible.

Night night. You've been watching too many crime dramas! Experience pet. Do you think I just woke up one day with a bad attitude to cops? I could write a book. 😃I could start a thread. Not all negative. That some of it is negative though is bad enough, but the fact is, the majority is negative. The most persistent stalker and troll I've encountered on social media is a woman who claimed to have been a police officer who has stalked and trolled me over at least three platforms using at least 4 different user names. That a mind like that can pass police vetting tells its own story. Can we get back on track now? This thread is about indisputable bad behaviour in the MET.
