The answer to the question posed is yes…. He went well above the Karman line and 8 days actually in orbit some of it spent onboard the International Space Station…so there are witnesses of various nationalities. Tito
FWIW Some weren’t happy with him flying aboard the ISS. NZ media articleCompare and contrast all this with both Branson’s effort and Bezos’s planned flight today neither of which get anywhere near orbit. Oh and to give the full perspective today is the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing.

It's getting a bit crowded up there. All this fuss about two billionaires going suborbital for a few minutes doesn't even count in my opinion when there have been dozens working in the ISS for a while now.
Space? There needs to be plenty of it. There are over 4000 satellites up there and several tons of related debris. Its apparently of such concern that there are active tracking projects trying to identify and locate it all so safe trajectories can be calculated through it all.

Oops, it wasn't meant to be a serious question Plog, just that the guy with the big hat is so much like Mario for it to warrant a joke about a Nintendo game. As for space, it's big, really big, but the main road to Mars will soon be littered with beer cans. edit...(paid, sorry. Is that a sign of getting elderly?)

To the above…. On a more serious note it will be interesting to see what the response is when of these flights carrying mostly high worth individuals goes wrong, for sadly one almost surely will. There were lots of recriminations at NASA after the Challenger accident about the wisdom of carrying non-essential personnel on flights. Amongst other things I wonder what insurance arrangements Virgin Galactic and the other operators have in place.

No, they are not astronauts. Yes they hit space but that is all, say five minutes. You are only an astronaut if you do one orbit of the earth.
