@ robertarthur: The switches are push-button type. It seems that LD knows of the solution, so I will try his suggestion. Thank you for your effort.

It may not be relevant but we have similar issues when an LED bulb is on its way out. Took the bulb out problem went - and there's no dimmer on ours. My partner noticed one bulb flickering more than the rest. It's a modern light fitting designed for led so may be completely unrelated - but....

The OP has multiple LED lights in the fitting which are all flickering, otherwise what you say is definitely valid, they will often flicker for the first few minutes when on their way out.
