I wonder how many of us would have had trouble getting to stay here if you had to pass a French test first. Anyone trying to come now have to pass a test and im sure it will be more than bonjour or non. Where is Aadvark he would be booted out with me.  |

Check at your Prefecture.
The people we sold the hotel in Salers to are going through the process just now.
So 100% genuine.

At least one of us would be able to find somewhere else cheap to buy. Outside EU? We were thinking about India but read that foreigners were not allowed to buy to live there permanently. |

Are you confusing residency with nationality? Or perhaps your 'clients' will be working here and the controls are part of their employment requirements?

They have visa's to work here but all they are doing is renovating a property they own. When they apply for residency they have to pass a French test. They had the full medical and checked for tuberculosis etc. |

A2 level is the requirement but thats a level thats really low.
The requirement are on the service public website under resident permits I think.

To be honest, if you can't communicate at this level then you shouldn't be in France. It's kids stuff.

Mysty, they are either fibbing to you, you are blowing something out of proportion for a "post" or are just passing fake news...
The language requirement only comes into effect for permanent resident ( years down the line); not new arrivals.
