The water does not go directly into homes or businesses for drinking...
The west coast of the US as well as France is hard up for water... Going to be a difficult year...

Don't confuse water treatment - Chlorination/uv treatment/filtration with the removal of all dissolved materials. It is purification in the sense of removing pathogens. It is not purification in the sense of removing everything that is not water.

Oops , and " perfect" ol' us have also got our own source connected to our garden/house/farm system , so no problems with water here.

Le droit de propriété sur les eaux de source figure à l’article 641 du code civil dès sa version de 1804 : « celui qui a une source dans son fonds, peut en user à sa volonté ». Ce texte conférait ainsi un droit de propriété absolu au propriétaire du sol sur les sources.
