I need to give my uk mobile number to someone in the UK to send me an access code in France. What prefix do I put in. I don't want to get it wrong because there's a tight deadline involved. Can anyone advise please.

Although in reality, if the person is calling your UK number from the UK, and you have the phone here, the prefix might not be necessary... but use it anyway.
I have all my contact numbers prefixed.

Yep I would also do +44 and drop the leading zero from the number, so +44 7777 777777
All my contacts are entered like this
Be aware I dont always receive country to country SMS messages, not many, but some just never arrive, or I might get one a few days after it was sent

Yes, whatsapp or telegram would be better and much faster.

You are correct, no prefix needed if they are calling a UK mobile from the UK, it is advantageous to do as you do Hal (and no doubt most of us) otherwise if the person goes abroad they wont be able to ring their contacts without editting the number.

SMS use message centre numbers within the users' phone settings. When messaging a number that's in a foreign country it may be that it fails through lack of contact with the receiver's message centre number.
