Watched the Roland Garros match between Nadal and an impressive 21-yr old Canadian this afternoon. Nadal won, though it took 5 sets to do it, but I couldn't get over all his tics before serving; racket tap to each shoe, bum scratch, touch to each shoulder, then ears, nose, headband and a final brush of sweat bands across the forehead. Each and every time.
In French they're called manies or tocs, to me they're just bizarre.

Yes, he’s always had those mannerisms. There are always five bounces of the ball before serving for example.
Iv’e enjoyed the Mens matches so far but the Ladies competition has been rather dull imo. Uninspiring as the low crowds have testified.

Does he still grunt after he hits the ball? It used to be awful. I like watching tennis, but I cannot get on with the grunting, so not watching much these days!

Yes, the grunt is off putting.

I find the grunts and noises quite amusing. There was a young Dane who beat Tsitsipas (?) today, 19 years old and not yet at the grunting stage.
