It seems that this forum has hit a security hiccup, affecting not only ours but others hosted by ProBoards, who in turn use Cloudflare to help protect forums on their service. When refreshing a page or clicking on a post to open it, many members and even staff have been taken to a web page saying that they have been temporarily banned. Several varieties of the web page exist - the image below is what mine looked like, but Error 1001 and Error 1005 also exist. Waiting a few minutes then trying again will usually solve the problem. It looks like it's going to gradually diminish and return to what it was before. I raised the issue with the ProBoards Support forum - support.proboards.com/post/7302959/thread - and from the answers there found some, but limited, answers/explanations. Have a look at the following pages to learn more: www.cloudflare.com/5xx-error-landing/www.cloudflare.com/www.cloudflare.com/learning/ddos/what-is-a-ddos-attack/The last is a long read with lots of complicated words for my raddled brain, but I will sleep a little wiser tonight.

Happened to me yesterday. Quite a surprise I must admit. The last time was from the old AngloAggro.

Of course, if you were a certain punter from Tours it would just be a normal occurrence on any forum.

It’s been happening for the last couple of days, pleased it will be returning to normal - it’s improved already today.

And if you try to read the Cloudfare explanation/excuse they even block you from that page!
You were visiting a Cloudflare customer’s website, and something went wrong. Don’t worry, it’s not your fault. If the problem isn’t resolved in the next few minutes, it’s most likely an issue with the web server you were trying to reach.
Cloudflare protects websites by sitting in front of Internet requests, and we work with website owners and hosting providers to identify underlying problems in their server configuration.

I've been getting that notification regularly since I installed Nord VPN a couple of weeks ago and put it down to that. When I reset my connection it goes away. I've had similar issues with the SNCF app. Coincidence perhaps?

It happened to me just the once - yesterday morning. I did wonder what on earth I'd done!

It's happened to me quite a few times. I've learnt to wait a while and try again. But annoying though.

If you post a lot of gibberish you do not get that message.

On the ProBoards Support forum the issue with VPNs is also mentioned, along the lines that one of the various IP numbers used to connect people to certain forums has been blocked: this is one of the threads - support.proboards.com/thread/670934/vpn-issues - the relevant part is this:

I always get the "limited bandwidth" page when I try to open 2 or more topics in different tabs. Does not matter if from the wifi from the bar downstairs(front of apartment), the house wifi(back of the apart) or using mobile data.

When I switch to Glasgow the issue is resolved. It just happened again there. Understandable trust issues? 🤣🤣🤣
