Well I STILL haven't got any adverts. I haven't done anything at all. I think it has to be the "DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials" I put in to help with protecting my search history. Does anyone else have that? Definitely DuckDuck privacy essentials. I have that installed and not seen an ad.
Nice to know it works.

And if you click on that link you'll be invited to pay $8.00 to have ads removed. There are freely available means to avoid having ads on your screen, be it DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials or Adblock Plus, or others, so you can choose one of those options, or put up with the ads, or change forums - this is a place of free choice, though not necessarily free speech.

I’ve never clicked it because the ads that I see are not all all annoying.

There is an ad top and bottom but neither is intrusive.

I've only got the banner ad at the top, not blocked by Adblock Plus which I have installed on Firefox. Edit: I've no longer got the banner, I found an element of Adblock Plus which gets rid of it, see below: View Attachment
When you click on the Block element part, you can choose the banner ad on the forum page as the element to be blocked, and it works!
You can get Adblock Plus, for the main Windows-based browsers, for Safari, and for Android, here: adblockplus.org/
Thanks for that. I installed Adblock Plus and it gets rid of both of them, top and bottom.

To all the people complaining about advertising, it is the advertising that is paying for your free access to ITV, online news, and this forum etc. If everyone blocks the ads guess what will happen. If you don't like the "get it free with a bit of advertising" then don't block the ads and feel free to use subscription services.

The only ads I have are squares with ‘have a nice day!’ And stuff like that in them. Doesn’t bother me. It might if they were huge and stopped me looking on here, in which case I would go away…
