Good afternoon
Our Commune have just introduced road names and numbers! It is a small village and previously just used lieu-dit or house names. They are convinced it will be better for deliveries etc. although we have never had any problems.
The paperwork attached to the notice of our modified address says that the Carte Grise and Driving licence must be amended within a month. Has anyone done this please? If so, does it take long?
I am happy to change driving licence address - through the dreaded ANTS website I assume. The Carte grise is a nuisance as we are expecting a new car to be delived at some point between mid-July and mid-August. I am concerned that we will not get an amended Carte Grise in time if the old car is traded in during July! I will approach the supplying garage for any up-to-date info they have on delivery.
A real hassle it all is, as we have to email or snail mail a lot of people! Any experience of this gratefully received. Mrs H

Same here, new address with a number.
I'm pretty sure we don't have to change the address for: carte de sejour and driving licence.
You do have to change the address on the carte grise, however it's really easy - you fill the details in on ANTS and then they send you a sticker with the new address which goes on your original carte grise, so no need to send it off or wait for a new one to arrive.
Good luck. Our new address stickers for the CG arrived within a few days.

Thanks a lot. I will tackle ANTS! A piece of paper we were sent definitely also says Carte de sejour but I can check that easily. I wiil also use the link given to notify other state entities. We are waiting for the Commune "attestation" to be re-issued - Surname incorrectly spelled and they appear to think that OH has died or gone away as only my name is on both the letter and the attestation. Thanks again Mrs H.

I have just changed my carte grise on ANTs it was easy they send you a sticker to put over the old address. The driving licence hasn't got an address on it so wasn't obliged to change it.ANTS tells you that.

OH finally got his French permis after 4 years of shenanigans with ANTS. We really don't feel inclined to do anything on that site again yet flober and amandaj, do your cars bear newish number plates? I'd understood that if the vehicle has the old-style immatriculation with the departement number, you have to change the immatriculation, as well as the address. In which case, they can take a running jump!

Yes that's correct, if you've got the old style number plates a new address will mean new number plate & carte grise.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that because our cars are all new style reg numbers.

We had a number allocated to us a few years back, mail still comes with the old field name on as well as the new number, so have not changed anything, whats this about number plate change? as far as I know the departments are still the same, my new motor still has "16" on the plate.

Is it an integral part of the number, though, spectrum? There are two formats....pre-2009 and post-2009. Anyone with an old car that hasn't had any reason to change their details will still have the old format. Could be viewed as yet another excuse to penalise /hassle the less-well-off portion of the population into spending money that they haven't got! Disenchanted by France, moi??

Thanks again, Flober: as you rightly say the driving licence does not have my address so that is sorted. I wonder why the paperwork with our change of address mentions it on the list!

Not a severe offence!!

Perhaps your expectations are/were too high ? I wouldn't know anywhere that I would prefer to live . Which other countries have you looked at or visited to want to live in ?

True, although the disenchantment is fairly recent. I can't imagine living anywhere else, either. Politicians are the same (or even worse) the world over....But we digress (again). Bad habit! Back to the subject in hand
