It's that time of year again. Wimbledon. Oh dear usual BBC over coverage. I'm mentally scarred with this annual tennis fest. It all started with our Mum who LOVED it to the detriment of family life. "Be quiet, shut up and if you don't like it get out of the room!" Total purgatory!

Do you ever stop trolling ? That was a serious ? .........
If you watched the news then you would have seen commentary on the "dress" code required at this tennis event ( see below) - from the participants - not a british rag....
Since no one cares; I thought I would comment.. Read it or not.
Nothing in England as a rule should be "white" from the government to the "kingdom"....

The baffling thing about Wimbledon is that very few people in the UK actually play or are interested in the sport anymore yet the saturated coverage remains, at least with the World Cup or Euros you can understand the fuss even if you don't like sport. I do wonder whether the retirement of Nadal, Federer, Djokovic and Serena Williams will result in a dip in global interest in tennis as the current crop of younger players are just not at their level.

Big boots to fill Tim but new stars will come along. Come on Andy 😄🥳 There used to be a seamless production line of top players, in the 60's and into early 70's you had the Australians such as Laver and Newcombe, then came the likes of Connors, Borg and McEnroe followed by Becker and Edberg who gave way to Sampras and Agassi before Federer and co took over in the 2000's. Ignoring the 'old guard' I'd struggle to name any top ten player now.

"Be quiet, shut up and if you don't like it get out of the room!" Total purgatory! I remember that people would actually stay at home just to watch the tennis on the "box"
I suppose now , that is not neccessary , it can be watched on the iphone , while doing other things ( eating, driving , swimming)

In the late 70s early 80s I remember trying to get home from work to watch the tennis as quickly as possible, excited to see it.
Bloody nuisance when the train was late or cancelled, as it scuppered my plans.

Do you all (Brits) stop wearing white end of August / first week of September? This is a misconception as the law for the prohibitation of wearing tennis whites comes into being two days after the wimbledon tournment ends and remains enforced until two days before the next tournment begins. However the wearing of cricket whites continues all through the summer with no penalties being enforced even during wimbledon fortnight. For more information just make it up

BIL is a former tennis pro and his main kit sponsor was Nike who for a couple of years only gave him black everything so when he played at Wimbledon he had to buy his own stuff!

Is it really a law? What are the penalties? It is a fashion faux pas to wear white after labor day in the US of A.. (end of August, 1st week in September normally)
