I have now received a letter from Barclays stating that they need to close my accounts. So I need to sort out my private pensions and see if they can pay them in to my French account. Just had the same letter...at least they've given us 6 months to sort something out.

I blame it on a shallow sea called Iapetus disappearing. Iapetus was linked to Japheth one of the sons of Noah and a progenitor of mankind in biblical accounts. That was until Barclays took control. The practice by early historians and biblical scholars of identifying various historical nations and ethnic groups as descendants of Japheth, together with the similarity of their names, led to a fusion of their identities, A bar steward at the club saw that he might make a bit of extra pocket money at the club if he could get into banking he he met a fraudulent Banker and started to play with his rod at the Russian Bankers International Club which was a subsidiary of BCCI. The banker was called Arron who was apprenticed at Crookham Court where met contacts and discovered large deposits of philosopher's stone and then specialised in turning wasteland into wealth. The full story will probably never come to be known by the general public. Here is what is believed en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arron_Banks After consorting with cut…….. Edit I think this may have been posted on a wrong thread. Perhaps I had Caledonian boarders in mind……..

Has anyone had experience of using Monese, it seems that you can have a multi-currency (Eur, Stg & Ron) account with them and can transfer currencies at a given intl rate (no other fees) instantly? Revolut seems to have ties with Russia & Ukraine so maybe they would not be the right bank to go with at the moment.

FU2. I thought I had already pointed out that joining such a club would involve exposing one’s books. A large element or the Tory Cabinet wouldn’t stand for that.

As I am gradually cutting threads from brexitland, I shall be making this my GBP bank. Not that it matters much, as Monese holds its money in France, you do not have to declare it as a foreign bank on your tax return!

Of course not , because the bank will tell the taxman how much you have in your account ! ( French law)

I have spoken to my private pension people in the UK and all of them did not have any issues with paying into a Euro account in France. I like the idea of Monese so I can still have a Stg account and am going to look into them further.

Seemingly Santander UK will still continue offering banking services to those in Europe.
To date mine has been with my UK address & the replacement cards for those lost in my wallet were sent there and await me which suited me as I don't know where I will be in France, they did say I could continue the account when the UK house is sold & I only have a French address, whether that is the case for new customers I don't know.
A friend was advised his Barclays account will be closed, he has banked with them since he was 16!
