It is time that OTC meds are on supermarket shelves here in Europe...
Maybe this will push it along to reality a little bit.

I don’t think that many in the government are that fussed about this. The end result being that it stimulates businesses and inflates prices. The point that it is an effective method of needlessly spending money is primary and over-prescription of medicines is secondary.

I was in Action today, I looked at the rayon "parapharmacie" without any real hope of seeing Doliprane or Paracetomol as I am forever the optimist, no surprise for me only why they should give the rayon that name when the closest thing on there to what might be found in a pharmacie was toothpaste and plasters.

The clue is in the 'para' Given that there's a shortage of antibiotics and pain killers in France anyway, it's hardly likely that the Gov will throw the sale of medicaments wide open to supermarkets, is it? Think of the effect on GPs' and pharmacies' incomes!

I know this thread is quite old and many may well know already. Pharmacies everywhere are on a real winner. the mark-up is never less than 100%. My doctor back in Naucelle used to fume at how much the local pharmacy was making.
