Thanks. One final question. I keep my shopping list on my Android mobile and then take it shopping. If I put stuff on my list with Alexa will that synchronise with my mobile? The Alexa app on your phone will show the list, so yes.

Beyond that I have done loads more, everything from adjusting the heating, changing TV channels, controlling home sound system, turning on the oven/coffee machine/kettle but you probably aren't interested in that bit. I might well be! Well, almost anything that has WiFi connection can be controlled by Alexa. The sky's the limit almost. Everything from cat feeders, garden hose controllers, TVs, ovens, coffee makers, light switches, light bulbs, bathroom scales, fridges, CCTV, electric gates. You can then do things like set up what is called a routine, if I say Alexa Goodnight she turns off the lights downstairs, turns off the TV and sets the alarm

if I say Alexa Goodnight she turns off the lights downstairs, turns off the TV and sets the alarm Impressive! I think she'll be able to cope well with my simple demands.

The Alexa app on your phone will show the list, so yes. Tell me more please! I have resisted talking to a machine (in truth, I do not have a lot to say...) but shopping lists are my bete noir! I do not write anything down and my memory always lets me down. How does this work? I think of something I need, say it, and it is recorded on the app, yes? In writing or audio?

You say - "Alexa add to shopping list" Alexa responds - "What can I add for you" You say - "A pound of sausages" (Oops showing my age there!) Alexa responds - "I have added a pound of sausages to your shopping list".
You can then see your list on the Alexa app, either print it off or open the app when shopping.
You can also have more than one shopping list: e.g., "Alexa create a shopping list for Lidl", she (it) creates the list, and when you want to put something specifically onto your Lidl list you simple say "Alexa add to Lidl shopping list" and then just add your pound of saugages!

OK! This is really good - the multiple lists bit!
Last question - is Alexa in a mobile phone? Eg, I can be in my workshop and ask her to put a grommet on the widget list?

I say, Alexa, find me a movie. Siri says, who is Alexa. I say, Sorry Siri, find me a movie. Siri says, WHO IS ALEXA? I say, please find me a movie. Siri says, Why don't you ask that b!+ch Alexa to find you a movie?

Tried unsuccessfully to delete the above post as I hadn't noticed the second page. Some things Alexa won't be able to help me with.

I can't imagine how such a small gadget can reproduce music in any sort of satisfying way but if that's all you've got then good luck. Thankfully I can still manage to switch things on and off in the old fashioned way, with a finger. [brp You'd be surprised at the quality of modern tiny speakers - Echo isn't a great speaker but it's an adequate speaker. We have a few small Bluetooth speakers and quality is surprising for something the size of a coffee cup.

Producing the lower frequencies is still dependant on the laws of physics. It takes a large surface area to push the large volume of air required.
Allegedly.
