I agree with Curtis in that something will stop you and at the very least make life hard. Before the numbheads voted in brexit, it was a doddle, I drove in twice and back out again with two MGBs. Even if you trailered the car in for competition, you need to leave a deposit with customs (or buy a carnet) to ensure that you do not sell the car once in France. It has killed the enjoyment of cross channel amateur motor sport. (well done guys, and you still cannot get your crops out of the ground )

Thinking more on your project - it could work quite easily in fact.
1. You front up to the Douane and tell them you wish to import the car. 2. They will ask for proof of ownership and price paid.
3. They will make many calls and come back with their valuation.
4. There will be an srgument over whose valuation is right. You will lose.
5. They will charge you 3% duty being what the numbheads voted for.
6. They will charge you 20% of the total, for TVA….
