I seldom if ever discuss Brexit with British people as it seems a bit like discussing religion in the old days. But I suspect that the benefits or not of leaving the EU will not be known for at least 20 years. That's just throwing any old figure isn't it? 20-30-40-50 who can possibly know but with a few years already gone by, how can it improve to what is happening right now? The bus, Oven ready, Europe just can't wait to do deals with us, tea to China, it's just throwaway slogans with no solid truth behind them as to making Brexit a success. Carole Cadwalladr showed beyond doubt to many just how Brexit got pushed through from a losing position just 36-48 hours before the referendum counting started and it wasn't done for the man/woman on the street that's for sure......

Not being allowed to vote I did not pay much attention to the ‘hustings’ as I did not believe Brexit would happen.

FU2, I know the rules as well as anybody but unlike the approved version of the facts vented on this forum I am prepared to look more widely for the causes of the bottleneck and chaos at Dover. May I suggest you do the same yourself. You can be as patronising as you like but I've a better idea. Why don't you go away for 20 years and return with your benefits of Brexit compendium. You know, that thing you claim not to want but feel the need to defend.

I have been continously asking (in other places) if anyone can give me any of the benefits of Brexit, and as yet I have not had any replies, despite repeated requests.
Although perhaps Jacob Rees Mogg moving all his company assets to the Republic of Ireland probably says a lot.

20 years or thirty? Every figure quoted in relation to Britain's exit from the EU, whether it be time or money, has had to be revised and not in a good direction.

Simple stupidity too. Why not make traffic for Dover go via the M2 and traffic for the Tunnel and Folkestone go via the M20. It might reduce to blockages somewhat. hvm, that is a very a one sided view of the problem which is sad; had the booths all been in use all the time the problem would have been much reduced. And had the French not taken a bloody minded attitude to passport control, then much quicker. Sorry to dispute your unproven assertion. If it takes one and a half minutes to clear a car with 4 people, the delay in arrival of one PaF of one hour would have created a queue of 40 cars. With 8 PaFs allegedly delayed by one hour that is 320 cars in the queue. That is not the 19 mile queue that was reported at one stage on the M20 - and goodness knows what on the A2 which IIRC narrows down to one lane before the viaduct that crosses the port entrance.

Irony is not encouraged in certain quarters here. But, yes, my reply was in the same vein. I shall now feel obliged to go look at it.

Not being allowed to vote I did not pay much attention to the ‘hustings’ as I did not believe Brexit would happen. I wasn't allowed to vote either, and shamefully admit that if I'd had the right to vote I wouldn't have bothered. ~Why not? Because I couldn't conceive of there being enough total idiots who would vote to leave the EU that there was any risk of it happening. How wrong I was. Now with hindsight I can see why the Referendum was pushed so hard by the money men at the top of the food chain. The EU was planning to bring in legislation that would seriously impede the City of London's money laundering industry. So the campaigners stoked the fires of racism and made big promises like the £350 million a week that would go to the NHS, etc. ready made Brexit deal, huge new trade deals around the world, etc. to get 17.4 million knuckle draggers to take a population of over 65 million people out of Europe and into oblivion. Thank Dog I don't live there.
