Probably one of the best environmental prophets of our age died yesterday having reached 103 years of age . People should have listened to what he had to say years ago , a bit late now.

James was an "unknown" in comparison to David Attenborough yet David was a relative latecomer to the reality of climate change. I'd love to have heard each one's opinion of the other 20 years ago. Still, 103 years and still active. I'll have some of that. DA must be chapping at the door of his century, no?

He was streets ahead of his contemporaries and, like it or not, his GAIA hypothesis merits careful thought.
He was one of the first to realise that the only way human energy needs can be satisfied is by harvesting the power of nuclear energy. He also proposed the concept of lifeboat nations to rescue those set adrift by sea level rise.
Quite the visionary.
