Jeremy Clarkson once said [of the striking public sector workers some years back] that they should all be dragged out and shot in front of their families. Most at the time thought it a bit extreme, but hey, it's Clarkson... I now want to take up this sentiment and apply it to anyone who voted for this stupid brexit thing. Seriously, how utterly stupid you all are. I go to Goodwood Revival every now and then - it is a motor sport thing - and every time I book tickets, they arrive at the start of August in a pretty presentation pack that is sent out by Goodwood via Royal Mail in an A5 document packet. All very professional. Mine arrived this morning with the now obligatory customs label showing value to be: Postage - 3.15, Presentation wallet - 0.25, Ticketing x 4, 4.00. Total 7.40. My friendly poste femme embarrassingly asked me for 10€....she had no breason or breakdown of the charge other than she is seeing it more and more on things coming in from brexitland as she does on items with African origin. This led onto a discussion on how the EU is breaking up and no one is friends any more... she is a very sweet person as you might gather! Now, I have sort of got used to paying a 3% duty plus admin charges on parts for my car renovations, but to pay 10€ for what is in effect, a letter is taking things to the extreme. So yes, if you are a brexit voter, please get rid of yourself in the most painful way you can think, or if you know any brexit voters, you have my blessing to purchase an assault weapon. There used to be an avid brexit chap on the forum way back - Yorkie something. What happened to it, or maybe it is still here with another name? It was a classic brexit muppet as it gloatingly used to tell us of its Irish passport... No doubt I will now be the devil incarnate

I still think the 3 main reasons for Brexiteers are still partially valid..
The EU had never acted in the UK's interest.
Opening up freedom of movement would allow loads of people into the country with different morals.. Romanians for example where organised crime is a way of life.
The UK didn't get value for the billions paid to the EU.
The whole brexit thing is something I completely disagree with, but I do acknowledge that these 3 points have some validity.

What did the E U ever do for us? Except remind us that the British Empire was no more. n.b. ‘ Against that, the UK received £4.5bn from the EU in regional aid and agricultural subsidies, and the private sector received a further £1.4bn direct from the EU budget.‘ www.ft.com/content/202a60c0-cfd8-11e5-831d-09f7778e7377

Well look no further folks. You'll search and search but you'll never find a bigger load of bollocks on the internet this week. The EU acted in the common interest. You can take your xenophobia. Brexit has so far cost more than the entire cost of uk membership of the EU. Of course the EU isn't perfect. That's Utopia you're thinking of. Give us a shout when you find it. Life for most people in the UK was better than it was before we joined the common market and as sure as night follows day, it'll get worse now we've exited the EU.

FOM helped the UK economy grow and now it's gone companies are struggling to fill job vacancies, then you've got the travel chaos that Brits will be suffering for years. Whilst the UK was a 'net contributor' people soon forget EU funding for various infrastructure projects, Erasmus, defence and security etc let alone agricultural subsidies.

People whose morals are against British laws (in all of their regional types) could legally be deported. Those with insufficient means to support themselves - likewise.
The UK was exceptionally poor at enforcing exactly the laws that were put in place by the EU in order to protect itself.

tim17I think the standing charge for collection of dues at the door is 8€. I have recently been getting emails from La Poste to pay online in advance to reduce this (but not consistently). Only problem is that when the Postie arrives they don't know I have paid - so I have to print off the emails for them to take back to the office.

You forgot the value of the tickets, around £400/€500? A little more - they are full weekend tickets. But interesting observation. The value for customs purposes apparently is the actual value of the goods and not what it might represent. A festival ticket is replaceable and therefore it is the paper value. Goodwood place a charge of £1 to produce the paper and cardboard. On the other hand, a 'penny black' stamp coming in will have duty applied on its irreplaceable worth of £xxx. So I am told... I have mellowed a bit, especially as Goodwood foresaw this happening to the 25% (?) EU attendance and sent out a mail advising us to cancel the hard tickets and opt for collection at the gate.... I binned the mail without reading Full marks to Goodwood and the dunce's hat to brexit.

Reminder to buy some shares in Groupe La Poste tomorrow

Opening up freedom of movement would allow loads of people into the country with different morals.. Romanians for example where organised crime is a way of life Because organised crime is unknown elsewhere? The British are world-leading at organised crime. Italy has the Mafia, UK has the Tories. The difference being that its's easier to get rid of the Mafia. Organised crime steals your money, very organised crime steals your children's future.
