It doesn't give me any pleasure but after seeing the darkened photo of the product label I was even more certain, if you put it on full speed you should feel the filtered (if you are lucky!) air being expelled through that slotted orifice, they usually have the expanded metal of the filter element behind it making a grille.

I have seen, fitted and removed dozens of them and have yet to come across one that has actually been vented to the outside, all of them my own ones included are used to simply filter the cooking fumes but in my case I have the VMC outlets above them. While not doubting for a moment your track record, my kitchen is blessed with an extractor unit vented to the outside wall. We designed it ourselves Just sayin'

Most modern cooker hoods (hotte) have a selector switch inside to divert the expelled air either to extraction or re-circulation. As you seem to need re-circulation then it is worth checking the filters, and the switch, if fitted. The, usually, white filter, is for grease so it is worth fitting a further, usually black, charcoal filter which is designed to cope with the smell of the exhaust. Charcoal filters are available as circular units, if your hotte will take one, or as a cloth form that can be cut to suit. Both filters should be changed every 3 months or so, dependant on usage.
