After reading something worth reading that is freely available www.thetimes.co.uk/article/4c7817cc-1968-11ed-98b9-ae8775f5f43c?shareToken=8c71c4424696d0291caa3e664eb01f18I thought about why it should be that it was impossible to read much without breaching a paywall and why such a range of media could be accessed reasonably inexpensively and allowed to be propagated freely. The war in Ukraine aside, strikes me that the world isdue to witness a life changing phenomenon beyond our wildest dreams and we are presently subject to the Masters such as Murdoch trying to get the biggest audience hooked. Is somebody doing a Ratner?

Having noticed recently that we seem to get one crisis after another, I briefly toyed with the idea that a handful of the mega-rich and powerful at the top of the food chain are about to make some huge move toward ultimate control in their quest for even more wealth and power.
One thing that seems to fit is that the UK has been politically destroyed so completely that the people are ready to blindly accept whatever is thrust upon them.

All newspapers have political agendas, that's nothing new. Don't forget that until the age of the Internet you would have paid for your information. No different now. It's a business, not a public service.

Correct. Who has control of most British newspapers. He got in early with Sky tv.
’we seem to get one crisis after another’
down to selective editing and the viewers selection of media.

I don't think I have ever paid for a newspaper in my life, possibly a few times during the Thatcher years only to see the job ads. I mostly read them in the library for free. I didn't even bother with news on TV. I wouldn't pay today, given the knowledge that so much of the media is controlled, influenced, or downright fake. All to be taken with a grain of salt.

If only newspapers were free to employ journalists again, the world might be a better place. We need more Pilgers, Bernsteins, Woodfords, etc.
