Bummer. Particularly this week if you have uk derived income. If that's too much money a PORSCHE one is just 8000 other ones start from a couple of thousand. Something for everyone. ☺ My last battery cost 80 euros.

There are alternatives. I watched an episode of Aussi Gold Hunters where a couple of Aboriginal brothers got stuck in the outback with a totally flat battery. They had been prospecting at night to get some respite from the 45 degree daytime temperatures. Leaving their 4x4 headlights on to see in the dark. One of them was in a bit of a panic because they were short of water and a long way from any potential help. The other fella took the battery out and built a fire. Once it was going well he heaped up hot embers around it and covered it with dirt. In the morning it had regained enough charge to start the car.
"Our people have survived this land for 50,000 years" No worries.

Before anyone tries to microwave or put a car battery in a warm oven to help it charge the forum owner or anyone associated with running it bears no responsibility for anything that may happen 😃

During the darkets years of poverty in France I would use a jug of hot water on my battery on cold mornings to get my Octavia 1 to start, during the snow & ice (2007?) I had to remove it at night and put it under the duvet with me at night, by then I had stopped the heating but still had off peak hot water.

The explosion was like a huge firework going off in my face. 24 hours later my overalls looked like a fish net. Almost a "brown trouser" event.

A man came to replace my battery today. A very nice chap but there was no way he was going to fit in the battery bay. I'll stick with a battery.
