I guess the powers that be will eventually catch up with the duckers and divers; it was inevitable that it would happen. There has been plenty of time to get legal with a CDS, French number plates and a tax number. Those who have a second home but are claiming a first one here will be wheeded out too, and will then have to pay Taxe d’Hab. at the steadily increasing second home rate. I rather suspect that the situation in Spain is similar though what about other EU countries? Are they taking a laissez-faire attitude?
By the way, there were reports before the summer holidays that the three month in 180 day thingy was going to be turned into six months minus one day; any update anyone?

How would that happen do you think? If they have gotten a carte de séjour then that would make their French property their residence principale, I don't think its a case of declaring it as such. I suppose if they dont submit a déclaration d'impôts then questions might be asked.

Taxe d'hab on résidences secondaires can only have a majoration (between 5 and 60%) if voted in by the commune and if a taxe on unoccupied properties has already been levied

Taxe d'hab on résidences secondaires can only have a majoration (between 5 and 60%) if voted in by the commune and if a taxe on unoccupied properties has already been leviedWhere did you find/read that ?
I am just interested .. I have discovered we are not in a 'zone tendue'. Not that we have a second home ..

I found it by the same methods as you, probably the same web page, Wooly had me worried!
I still havn't checked if my new place is in a zone tendue, its part of the Communauté Agglomeration Bergeracoise so it could be.
The price seemed reasonable but if there is a 60% majoration then we will have to have some revalorisation of the indice de vétusté.

Perhaps your passport has not been checked by the French because you are driving a French reg car. Elsewhere (St Exupery) passports are being checked and stamped and if you need to avoid the stamp you do need that TdS( In CDG the other day the EU/Shengen lot were marshalled through manual passport checkpoints while us undesirables, UK, USA etc were posted to the automated system which had me thinking, how is entry registered or CdSs checked. But on clearing the automated gates there was a single manned post for the sole purpose of stamping or not ones passport. Two of a group of guys joined the wrong queue and passed through with no problems which says to me the split system is there so as to be of less inconvenience to Europeans and for no other practical reason. Armed with my CdS I know which (non)queue I'll be tagging on to in future. Off track but I have to share. The same group of guys were waiting to disembark and one of them joked " I can speaka da French." A kid behind them responded, "That's Italian, ya ar5eh¤le."

I would think that it won't take the Prefectures too long before they let Les Impots know , who has a CdeS.

Those of the misfeasance variety who are playing fast and loose with the French rules for obtaining a CdS will no doubt get it in the arse eventually. Two people of my personal knowledge have had their CdS's rescinded. One, a former employee, was awaiting a day in court for a very serious case, and was found guilty in his absence after he did one back to Albion. The second, also via a guilty court appearance for stabbing her partner.

for pcpa:
I have posted a link to the website where one can apply for a replacement WARP card if lost. See section on "Useful information". Only cost is for a new photogaph.
Edit: My post on Useful info does not seem to exist so I repeat the website details here!

Hereford, that link does not have anything for the replacement of the lost carte de séjour.
Whilst I know that the replacement should be free all the government sites I have read say that I have to pay €225, remember that our cartes are not ones for EU citizens.
