Much better to watch it on YT afterwards. You can fast forward the bits with bagpipes There we differ - I would replay the bagpipes over and over. 😁 Each to their own What did strike me was how uncomfortable/furtive/amost guilty the Queen consort looked. Poor woman! Perhaps it's a result of all the years of vicious media sniping. I sincerely hope she settles into her new rôle well, after the coronation. I'm looking forward to that. Something positive and joyous for a change....

Not "our thing" really . Very well choreographed but then they had been practising for a while . It shows where the masses of the British public are in their way of thinking of how the UK is .The governement and ruling class is completly out of touch with reality and I am sure this will be mirrored in what will happen this coming Winter. State funeral ? We noticed that it was actually a military funeral , probably because the empire ,that is no more, was based on military might and subjection of masses of people and countries . Hence the royal term , " my subjects" An interesting piece of theatrical television. Truly I believe the like of yesterday will not be seen again in such a way .. tho I won't be here to see 'the next funeral' unless Charles pops his clogs shortly following an apoplectic episode due to his intense rage with the banality of the everyday boxes etc etc etc QE11 used to do. Charles has always said he would like the Monarchy to evolve, starting with a 'slimming down' and continuing .. William is even more determined than Charles in following a similar path.

Perhaps it was due to the discomfort she was in due to having broken a toe .. I broke my little toe a few winters ago and the pain and discomfort was excruciating for quite a while. Tho it does depend which toe is broken apparently.
Camilla has calmed Charles down, allegedly, she will provide sound counsel I hope.

The bagpipes were the highlight for me despite the dirge of a playlist. This is proper music for a funeral. I'll haunt my family if this isn't played at mine.
or a more sedate version

She is also suffering with a broken toe I already said just that .. I hadn't read your post so presumably others might not have either. The world now knows about the toe.

Sure the military contingent and flunkies have been rehearsing for years, but there were still 500 heads of state, politicians and goodness knows how many others who had not been rehearsed and had to be managed. That is no mean feat. The precision of the military and everyone else was superb. A fantastically managed event and a credit to the U.K.

I assume you do know the history of the bagpipes.
Invented some 5000 years ago and adopted by the ancient Persians. The Persians gave then to the ancient Greeks. The Greeks in turn passed them on to the Romans. Who in turn passed them to the Bretons. Once in the hands of Celts, the Bretons gave them to the Irish who in turn gave them to the Scots.
The Scots still have not seen the joke.

The bagpipes didn't work though. Nobody left. That's unusual, it's more often a case of 'there's nobody left' P.S. Not having a dig, @hvm, honest injun!

Then the Scots showed how to do it properly and it became a worldwide enduring phenomenon. D-Day might have turned out differently if a Morris dancer was first off the boat.

And become the power behind the throne? I thought the BBC had a fair bash at being that over the last week and a half.
