Are British people covered for emergency health cover when they visit France for a holiday? I am not sure what the rules are now that we have left the EU. Can we still use EHIC or has this been replaced? I also want to visit Spain next year as well. Thanks very much.

As far as I am aware and I haven’t fortunately had to test it yet, you can still use your EHIC until it expires, then it is replaced with another card I think that might be GHIC, but I’m not sure. Would be interested if anyone has attempted to use one sine BREXIT.

Our EHIC cards expired and we now have the new GHIC cards, but have not had to use them yet

Save for the name and the removal of the EU logo the rather ambiguously and ambitiously named GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) is in effect identical to it's EHIC predecessor.
Due to that name no doubt there will be those who will come to assume it has wider ranging powers in the same way that some seem to believe that the equally ambiguously and ambitiously named IDP (International Driving Permit) is of itself some sort of globally valid driving licence!
