Did the Notaire witness your wills and keep a copy, mangetout?

No, we wrote olographe wills, which I took to the Notaires office to ask if they were correctly worded. I saw a young Notaire (the old Notaire had retired). He asked a few questions and confirmed they were fine. I declined to have them registered. I keep a very good record system and copied them to family for added security. Of course the young Notaire I saw may not still be there, and as it was only advice I sought, I just popped in to the office after doing my shopping, I doubt a record was made.

So there is no legal record of your wills ? Were they witnessed ?
It doesn't really matter, you will inherit anyway . Anyone that feels they have a right to your or your deceased husbands inheritance will have to apply to your notaire. So best thing is to make an apointment .

No witness. They are French wills which should not be witnessed.

Did your husband leave a will Loiseau? No, not in France. We had been advised to make "donations entre époux", leaving the enjoyment of everything to the other, and that swung into action very easily. I seem to remember that it meant the children could not force the survivor out, or grab all the contents (not that they would have dreamt of such a thing). As you two had no children, I imagine (hope) things will be straightforward for you. i hope you are bearing up ok, mangetout.
