Seems we are on the Amber+ list because of the no. of covod cases on Reunion Island which is about 9000km from mainland France. However Reunion is on the Amber list so you could fly from there direct to the UK and not have to isolate. Stupid or what?
Love this:
A spokesperson for Brittany Ferries said: “It makes you wonder if those in the centre of power have access to an atlas – or a geography GCSE – between them.”

Mainland France is also on the official amber list but the UK government have just added on the 10 day self-isolation requirement based on the Beta variant numbers on Reunion. Unfortunately, all the Covid indicators here are not good so I doubt the self-isolation bit will be removed any time soon.

No, you can't fly back from Reunion to the UK without having to self-isolate upon landing.

The Amber+ rule relates to mainland France only and not to Reunion which is still on the Amber rules. Allowing entry to the UK from EU Amber rule areas therefore means people can travel to the UK from Reunion having had 2 jabs without having to quarantine (assuming they do not enter Metropolitan France on the way) which is basically what I said previously.

You are of course correct spider, Reunion is on the UK gov list as a separate entity to France and is classified, to paraphrase as being “bog standard, not enhanced” Amber list. That said from a practical POV you’d probably struggle to get from Reunion to the UK without transiting either France or worse still a red list country. The list and rules
This has always boiled down to a UK gov stuff up or pure vindictiveness and they can’t back down without losing face…so we’re stuck with Amber+ for a bit longer….

Just read a report in The Times saying that France is coming off the Amber plus status and will be just Amber from 4.00am on Sunday. It describes how travellers will not have to quarantine for ten days. We are on the last day of our quarantine and are awaiting the required negative test result email. Good news for others and us next trip.

Son and daughter-in-law visiting us in a couple of weeks. They live in Scotland and although vaccinated the Scottish certificate does not have QR code. How difficult will this be for restaurants and hotels?

I am not sure anyone knows just now. My personal perspective is that I doubt that every restaurant and bar in the country is going to get a QR reader and links into the Ameli site to verify French vaccine certificates. Foreign certificates won't be on the Ameli site anyway so I really doubt it will be an issue provided they can provide some sort of proof of vaccination.
